It's been a whole month since I got my new teeth. Now I'm healing up rather nicely, the dentures are getting looser everyday, and that's getting annoying. I have to use more and more adhesive just to keep them in.
On July 14 I go to my dentist for him to have a look-see and decided when he wants to do a re-line. What sucks is he does not do them chairside, so I'll have to take a day off of work so he can take my teeth from me :( to make them fit a bit better for a little while. My out of pocket cost will be almost $200 for that! Yikes! I am really considering ordering some of that Perma-Soft reline stuff and just do it that way. Hopefully it works well. Right now I have something called EZO. I got it at Meijer for less then $4. I don't expect much from it, but we'll see how that goes. I haven't tried it yet because I have a piece of bone trying to escape on the bottom front and it hurts just a bit right when I put my denture back in. The top is a wee bit loose, but not as bad as the bottom. I've made the executive decision to use cream adhesive on the roof and powder adhesive on the arch where my teeth were. I've still got a bit of healing to do up there, so I'm afraid the cream will mess it up.
The way he was talking it sounded like I'll never get a new pink base on my dentures, they'll just keep filling them in and grinding the outside down. Now, to me, that makes no sense. As it is, the teeth are pretty close to the surface of the dentures on the front side. I want to believe this was just a case of miscommunication. As I was walking out of his office the other day I grabbed my handy dandy phone and googled "denture reline". I learned there's something called a rebase as well, and that sounds like what I was trying to get at. I looked at the list of covered procedures from my insurance, and there it was! When I go in a couple weeks I'm going to ask him about it. I'm sure it will be awhile before that happens, but I absolutely can NOT walk around with this monkey mouth of mine. All the swelling is gone, and people are STILL asking me if I've taken up chewing tabacco. Obviously somethings wrong since I never got asked that before dentures. I'll be taking so many pictures of me before dentures to show him so if he even thinks of saying "well, that's what you look like with teeth" I can say "oh no it's not! I didn't even look like this with my ugly teeth!"
Also, I've been spending a lot of time in the make up aisle lately! Now that I have a mouth to be proud to draw attention to, I keep looking at all the lipstick. There's SO MUCH! I'm starting out with some neutral shades. Eventually I'll work my way to bolder shades, but I'm clueless as to what would look good on me, LOL!
OH YEA! My main reason for this blog post is FOOD! I was eating in public in less then three weeks. Just the other day I had grilled chicken at Cracker Barrel! I was like a little kid in a candy store with how excited I was about it. Last night we had sloppy joes and french fries! FRENCH FRIES! And I could bite into them instead of cutting them up! I even fried up a chicken tender to see what I could do with that. The crunchy breading was kind of a pain, but I did it. I really want Hooters, but I think it might be a week or two for that. I'm really looking forward to the day I can take a bite out of a cheeseburger. I haven't made any yet, but I think I might be able to eat one if I cut it up. Tomorrow we're going to our friends house for a pig roast. The guy cooking the pig is SO good at it, I'm sure I'd be able to eat the whole pig if they let me. He makes the most tender pig I've ever had in my life.
