getting dentures

Hi I'm going to start the process of getting dentures next month.I have been all over the internet finding out all i can about getting and having dentures the thing is i came across this website that said some prtty awful things about dentures and i'm hoping there is someone out there that has had dentures for awhile and i'm hoping you could answer a few questions i have.First and formost do you ever get used to them will there ever come a time that they feel like they belong there and second does your face really start to change.I'm getting the dentures that go right in I was told that implanted ones would be better since i'm only 33 but the is know way iI can afford those but now i'm really concerned that my jaw line is going to start changing so if thers anyone out there taht can helpme that would be so great Thank You Malisa

Hi I just read your post and I really understand how you feel it is really scary but after reading the messages that everyone has left me I feel so much better about it.I just want to be able to smile again and if that means getting dentures then I think it will be worth it I wish you the best Malisa

I like what you said about getting you self respect back and being able to face the world again. I'm in the need to get them scared to death and cannot imagine getting out of this spot. My self imagine has gone down hill for five years now and I can't believe the toll it's taken on my life. I've literally spent thousands of dollars and hours in dental chairs and am at the point where I cannot eat or smile from failed root canals, periodontal dieses and broken bridges. I went from being a prominent business woman to a person who hides from people. My selfconfidence is gone.

I've allowed my dental situation to ruin my life and it ends up dentures is my only answer and am scared to death. Reading the positive post from people who have adjusted well gives me hope that I an be on the other side of this someday .

I'm just like Cate: 8+ years. I can eat, talk, laugh like anyone else. Yeah, it's rough in the beginning but you eventually forget you have them. The key is a well-fitted set. All this turned out better than I ever imagined. Best to you, Malisa

Mine, I've had for 6 days and it's getting better but my gums aren't healed yet of course. My Aunt got them about 15 years ago and she once remarked that they like a part of her body. I never forgot that. I guess I never thought much about dentures until I had to face the fact that I had to do something, and I couldn't afford to do implants.

No matter how much you read, remember that millions and millions of people have them and you don't know it, that's because they are all just fine with them.

Those dumb commercials that sell denture products make us think that dentures are trouble too. Heck, other than polident tablets, my dad never had need for any of that other stuff. It will be ok.

I love mine and I'm so glad I finally did it. Most of the time, I forget that they are there. I can eat and talk normally after a couple of weeks adjustment. Your gums will shrink some, but like most everyone here, if you wear them all the time, you're the only one who will know that!
