November 2nd is getting close

I just found your web site last night. I am going in Nov. 2nd to get what's left of my upper teeth extracted. At the momment I have 5 1/2 front teeth left. I've had a partial for all of my back molars for the last 10 years. In July my second from the front tooth snapped in half and I've been like that ever since.

I've made it through all of the impressions and they are going to have an immediate denture ready for the 2nd. I am going to be awake for the extractions so I am nerveous as all get out. I don't know if I'll be able to talk, eat, or be able to go out in public after they're through.

It has been really nice to read all the postings from people going through the same thing. Thank you!

Hi Diann! Welcome to the group-- it was a blessing when I found it-- and still is. Keep reading, it's a big help. I've been with full dentures for 1& 1/2 YEARS. Good luck to you, keep in touch.

As far as if you can go in public after,is up to you-- I took a few weeks off work , cause I could, and practiced talking and eating, It does take some getting used to, but it is the best thing I could have done for my self with my situation. I had periodontal disease. It caused my teeth to get loose so I had to do something, or be toothless-- that wasn't gonna happen! :)

Welcome and good luck! I was able to talk and eat (well only soft food and small amounts at a time).
I only "hid out" for about 4 days until the swelling went down and then I was out and about as though nothing had changed but that is up to each person. I am 4 weeks out of my E-day. I had 22 teeth removed at once so I have full upper and bottom dentures

I think you will be fine. I stayed home from work for a week, but still went out for short periods. Mostly I just felt fatigued, but then I had full top and bottom extractions.

Good Luck and I hope everything goes great for you!!! I don't know about feeling like going out immediatly after it is done, but a day or two later you might feel like it.

Well...I made it through my E-day with amazing ease. It turned out the teeth I had extracted were really ready to come out. So it was really quick and easy. My new teeth fit well and I could talk almost immeditately. I am still a little sore but have been getting along fine. I really want to thank you all for your emails and I will get a picture of my lovely new smile uploaded very soon. I don't go back to work until the end of next week but I'm sure it will be uneventful. Again, thank you all for your encouraging words.

I love to hear e-day updates that went so much better and easier than anticipated since I am still waiting on mine (insurance takes FOREVER to preauthorize). Glad to hear it went so well for you!
