New to the group

Hi everyone. I am new to the group. I have ha the uppers and lowers for about three weeks but have only been wearing them for about one week because of pain. Apparently I have some bone in my mouth which are not cooperating with the dentures. I have been going back weekly for adjustments to get it right and its coming slowly but surely. I have one spot in my mouth in the upper that continues to hurt when I put them in so I have to use one of those polygrip strips and put it right on th sore spot before I put the upper in. The lower seems to have a jagged edge that hurts on the edges so I don't wear them much so I'm going to try to get it all resolved Monday. This is my third week going back since I got the dentures. is this normal? Oh the dentures look awesome. She did a good job. I just seems like my upper lip is swollen. Is that normal? Someone told me it will go down eventually as my mouth gets used to this foreign object.

Welcome to the group samila.
Yes it is totally normal to have to go back for adjustments. Your mouth is ever changing as it heals.

I can't say I agree with the poligrip strip over the sore spot. There are several oral pain relievers you can use. But it is always best to have those spots looked at by your dentist.

Upper lip swelling is normal too. It really wont' last for long, however remember you have added some plastic between your natural gum, and the inside of your lip, so that will alter it too.

The best part of your post is the great job your dentist did on your smile, and just how happy you are with it.

Be kind and patient with yourself, this is a journey...you'll have your I'll love you days, and you'll have the what the heck did I do days.....try to smile through them
