I have had a full bottom denture since the end of October '09 (the day before I got it, I had 5 teeth removed that had crowns that held bridges to give me a full set of teeth) and am in the process of getting implants. I got an immediate lower and had one reline 4 weeks later. Maybe I am just very sensitive, but I could not eat comfortable for about 8 weeks. I just always had movement on top of sore gums which made if very uncomfortable to eat. I only stayed on soft foods for about 10 days as I am an athlete and need a lot of calories to burn.
I now have a good fit but very little retention. I use denture glue on top of denture powder to hold it in. I have to re-glue about a 1/2 hours before I eat and there is very little retention by the time I have finished my meal.
I had always heard that bottom dentures do not stay in well and my surely do not. Other people are lucky and their's stays put, but mine never did. Can not wait to finish the process of implants (5 on the bottom and 2 on top-a little over $40,000- I'll be poor but happy.)
Hopefully, your experience will be better than mine.
