remaining lower teeth being extracted Monday 11/24/08. Interim partial going in. No turkey again this year! Last year upper E day was 11/8/08 and I didn't have enough lower teeth to help the new upper ones chew turkey. Next year!!!!

Yeah Jr, same here. Never really liked turkey anyway, but I am looking forward to MORE mashed potatoes, and need I mention that I will still be the chief, cook, and bottle-washer? Glad we're really not having a house full. Good luck with your extractions, sending good thoughts your way.

Hi ! I have been reading the posts for a week or so... I am so glad I found this site ! My first E-day will be Friday, 12/05/08. I am having all the back teeth pulled... 14 in all. I am terrified of the dentist... but have had the consult with a new dentist in town who seems absolutely amazing. He provides sedation dentistry and has told me that I may even sleep thru my appointment...which sounds wonderful to me. I am very nervous, but yesterday I stocked my shelves with soft foods to eat post E-day and I'm trying to keep my nerves in check. Anyone have any thoughts that they would like to share with a nervous girl who is looking forward to her new smile next spring when all is said and done?

it took a few days to feel better , not vain , went to work with no teeth.
but do look forward to getting dentures. Scott

tomorrow ( tue , dec 30 - gotta get it in under the wire to be elegible for meeting the insurance deduction of 2008 ) 3:45p , whats left of my uppers ( all 5 of 'em ) alogn with the attached partial that ive had for over 25+ yrs

am already sweating and sick to my stomach , but once its over i'll never have to go thought this again ( all lowers are gone / mini implants ) so in a way i'm sorta looking forward to tomorrow , i know i have the next 6 months to go through ( adjustments and fittings ) and oh-the-joy of playing with adhesive ( again ) until all is said and done , but ! like i said , once its over - it s over :)

hey , y'all

just ( and i mean " just " ) got home from the dentist , had the remainder of my teeth ( top - 5 and an attached partial ) taken out and my immediate denture put in. i took a pain pill ( 500mg hydrocodone ) before i left the house ( figured i'd get a jump on the pain if i could ) it took 10 shots of novacane ( for some reason my body absords the stuff like a sponge ) before i was numb enough to do any pulling ( oh , and the pain pill - a waist of time and the swallow to get it down , didnt do a thing )

all in all it wasnt " that " bad , it was bad enough but not " that " bad ( i guess once youve gone through something big ( lowers pulled and minis put in ) the next time its just not all that --shrug-- )
i am quite surprised about the part that goes across the roof of my mouth , its not as bad as i had imagined it doesnt go as far back as i thought it was going to and ive already found a spot with my tongue that if i push up it sorta reactivates the suction

right now the novacane is wearing off ( starting to tingle ) and i need to put some ice on so my face doesnt look to much like a chipmonk

so now we start the 6 month journy of reline and adjustment until the perm denture can be done
( just in time for vacation 2009 - japan for a month )

i was supposed to go back to the dentist yesterday ( day after check up ) but because of the storm we had ( 9 inches of new snow ) i canceled ( like every one else )

am swollen today ( i look like a chimpmonk with an overbite ) swollen in circles about the size of a silver dollar ( on the sides of my nose ) and right under my nose i look like freddie murcury ( r.i.p. ) of the rock group queen - a serious overbite ( which i dont have in real life neither does anyone in my family ) --sigh-- i sure hope thisoverbite situation is just a side effect of the swelling ? and that it'll go away pretty soon

i go back tomorrow and right now , i feel ok so im expecting everyting to be ok -- we'll see

Good luck with your dental visit. Hope you're feeling better. Take it from me, everyday is a new adventure, but I promise it gets better with time. I am almost 2 mos post extraction, and though the adjustments have been numerous, if you asked me a month ago, I would have said "I was crazy to think I could ever do this" but alas, I have done it, and it's great!

You will get there soon! Best of luck to you. We had snow too! I'm tired of it all ready. First snowfall is always the best, the rest after that are just a big pain in the butt.
